MATERIALS

Each piece is crafted by hand using the time-honoured technique of lost wax casting, which involves hand-carving or sculpting each piece initially in wax form, then casting and replicating in metal. In an effort to minimize waste, all pieces are handcrafted in recycled metals, in small batches, or to order. Ruddock uses an 18 carat gold plate, solid sterling silver and bronze.
Pieces that require hallmarking are verified and stamped at the London assay office guaranteeing their purity.
Ruddock partners with local businesses to bring designs to life with all pieces being cast, plated and finished in London, all within a few square miles. Working with a local supply base reduces their carbon footprint whilst also supporting the local community.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Care
To maintain the beauty of your pieces Ruddock recommends that you do not bathe, shower or swim whilst wearing your jewellery.
Chlorine in particular can permanently damage or discolour gold plating.
Take care to remove your jewellery when applying cosmetics, creams, perfumes, deodorants etc as these can have a corrosive effect over time
It is advisable to remove all jewellery when exercising or partaking in any labour intensive activities.
It is also advisable not to wear jewellery when asleep at night.
Take care when handling gold plated jewellery to protect the layer of gold from excess wear and scratching.
Storage
When storing it is best to keep jewellery pieces in separate pouches or boxes to prevent rubbing and scratching against one another.
Cleaning
Silver jewellery may tarnish over time due to its reactive nature to moisture and chemicals. This can be easily remedied by cleaning your pieces regularly with a soft polishing cloth or silver cleaning cloth, silver cloths are relatively inexpensive and a very effective way of cleaning tarnished pieces.
A note of caution however - please ensure you never use your silver cloth on gold plated pieces as this can remove the gold plating.
